The announcements in 2021 of a cryptocurrency nature where sports organisations keep coming, with NBA outfit Portland Trail Blazers the latest to jump on the trend train by teaming up with cashback blockchain company StormX in a “never before seen partnership.”

The Stormx Journey

The StormX project came to life six years ago, having been founded in 2015. In simple terms, the StormX app, which also works as an extension on Google Chrome, allows users to earn themselves some crypto in many ways, such as completing tasks, with the token, $STMX, given in return.

The Relationship

In short, the partnership between the two organisations will see StormX act as the Portland Trail Blazers’ maiden international rights partner in the hope that the move will enable the engagement of fans on a global level. So, they will be building on what is already a fan base spread around the world.

Marketing Strategies

StormX will also head up marketing strategies internationally, a department that the cashback blockchain firm’s Matthew Chuen will likely oversee in his role as head of marketing. StormX is already making waves thanks to their marketing campaigns, so the Trail Blazers will be confident of similar occurring thanks to the agreement in place.

The Portland Trail Blazer’s will also display the StormX logo on its uniform. It will be on the left side of the top, above the N and D in Portland, adjacent to the Nike Air Jordan branding. So, it’s very much front and centre and will be visible to everyone who watches the Trail Blazers or takes an interest in them and the NBA.

And Portland Trail Blazers President and CEO, Chris McGowan, is looking forward to seeing “such a ground-breaking, revolutionary company on the front of our jerseys.”

Exciting Partnership

McGowan, who is also the President and CEO of Rose Quarter, added, “StormX is a fresh, energetic company with Pacific Northwest roots that can educate and motivate RIP City around cryptocurrency and earning crypto cashback.” Before closing, with, “I look forward to taking these next steps together as partners.”

Simon Yu, the CEO and Co-Founder of StormX, was equally as pleased with the partnership. He said, “We’re honoured to be the first crypto company to form a jersey partnership with not only a team of such a high calibre, but also with a league of the same stature. Like the Trail Blazers namesake, we see ourselves as trailblazers in the drive for the mass adoption of crypto by helping everyday people earn crypto while they shop.”

NFT Release

There will be the opportunity to commemorate the deal between the Trail Blazers and the crypto trailblazers. The NBA outfit will produce and release its first non-fungible token, otherwise known as an NFT. It will take inspiration from the Gameday Poster Series, something the Portland Trail Blazer’s are renowned for, so fans will be delighted. It’s set for launch sometime in mid to late July.
